Family Tradition

Over fifty years ago in the small town of Muleshoe, Texas, Jesse and Irma Leal opened a small tortilla factory, Leal’s Tortilla Factory. Jesse and Irma hailed from South Texas where Irma’s father owned a small neighborhood tortilla factory, El Arco Iris Tortilla Factory (Rainbow Tortilla Factory), in Mercedes, Texas during the Great Depression. It was in her father’s tortilla factory where Irma learned the art of making fresh corn tortilla chips and salsas and honed the family recipes that have been passed down since the late 1920s. These same family recipes are being used today to bring people the true, authentic taste of freshly made, stone-ground tortilla chips and fresh salsas.
